I'm a beginner level web designer and I'm eager to learn!
If you want to learn how to design a website, you should be prepared to bring together your ideas and spark them with great pictures, animations and....what about inserting a video? Wow! that would be nice!
Consider the following tips before starting your site:
1. Have access to a good training material. I am designing for over ten years and I have learned a lot from what others write about this interesting topic. One never stops learning.
2. Be creative. When you create your first layout don't think that you can't do this or that. If you have access to good information, certainly you will be able to do it. Enhance your basic understanding of what web design is about.
3. Learn about the difference between applications. Dreamweaver, Expression Web or the free NVU are different design software. Each one has good and not so good tools, but you are the one to decide which one to use. I recommend starting a free web design skills tutorial and then make your choice.
4. Content. Make an outline for site content. Is the best you can do to keep content orderly. This tool will help you to visualize main categories for the site and sub-categories.
5. Layout the site. Make a draft of the site (you don't need to be an artist!). In this draft you are going to indicate different site areas. Basic areas are: header (title), picture area, main text, menu or site links and the footer with a copyright notice. yeah, you don't want any folk copying your masterpiece, right? :)
6. Choose a good color scheme. Google a free color wheel software that will help you choosing a nice color combination. Remember colors will reflect emotions (sadness, happiness, anger, i.e.). Colors should be used correctly and is a very important aspect of your overall web design.By Orlando Orengo
Good luck in your new website design adventure. I know you can do it!
